Emission Inventory Review 2010

The workplan implementation for the 2010 review was discussed at a joint EEA / ETCACC / CEIP meeting in February 2010. The technical review process in 2010 will be carried out again in three stages. CEIP will provide separate Status reports (Stage 1) and Synthesis and Assessment reports (Stage 2) for all countries which submit data, reports can be displayed/ downloaded from the CEIP homepage.

NEW  functionality: Comments to the reports and responses / answers to IEF related findings of the stage 2 review can be completed online, without the need to download and send back an Excel file. The Parties (see  CEIP contact points) can use  the same usernames and passwords as in 2009 to access the national files at 'Review results 2010'.

Stage 1

Stage 1 Status reports have been posted on the website by 23 March 2010.
The individual stage 1 reports provide information on timeliness, formats, and completeness of CLRTAP and NECD inventories submitted under CLRTAP / NECD.

NEWS:

• 1c : Added statistic on not estimated (NE) NFR09 sectors for each pollutant.
• 1d: Information on completeness of sectoral emissions is provided separately for periods 1980-1989, 1990-1999, and 2000-2008.

Stage 2

The more detailed Synthesis and Assessment reports provids information on the consistency, comparability, trends, IEFs and KCA of national inventories. Results have been published by 31 May 2010.

Inventories of 10 countries (Austria, Cyprus, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Romania, Russian Federation, Slovakia, Switzerland and United Kingdom) have been reveiwed by 2 expert review teams (ERTs). 21-25 June 2010 in Copenhagen.

ERTs have prepared alltogether about 300-400 questions which have been sent to the countries (approximately 1 week before the review started and during the review week). All national teams of reviewed countries except Slovakia and Russian Federation responded before 25 June. Review teams appreciate the effort of countries which provided explanatory information and supporting materials under such tigth schedule.

ERTs plan to complete individual country reports within next 6 weeks. These reports will be sent to the countries for comments before posted on the CEIP website.
